Prison

From my point of view, what makes “Carceri (Prisons)” a, metaphorically, prison is represented from two different perspectives. First at all, physically,  a prison is commonly characterized, visually, by two features, the light and darkness in the room. The light which travels from the window to illuminate some part of the room and the darkness of the prison  are portrayed in Carceri. Mentally, being in a prison can causes our emotions be released, deep emotions such as sadness, as well as leaving us in a state of agony, desperation, insanity, anguish. When looking at Carceri, the same emotions and state of mind are transmitted . The feeling of being trapped in that place, even when there are stairs they lead us to nowhere, there is no scape.  I think Carceri is a metaphorical prison since the moment you look at it, it makes you feel incarcerated in your most internal feelings. Nowadays a prison could be represented by the huge pressure modern society is putting into people and their physical beauty.
